The Project

SL Construction Services were selected through early contractor involvement to install 32,478m² of structural roof waterproofing, and 480m of specialist structural movement joints to the Main Olympic Stadium. In addition 1,130m² of plant room tanking was successfully completed ahead of time and to budget. The collaborative working approach between Sir Robert McAlpine and SL Construction Services has shown 'best in class' partnering on a major and technically demanding world class project.

The Works

Working together as an intergrated delivery partner planning and co-ordination works around other construction activity was a key success for SL Construction Services, in particular working ahead of key delivery dates ensured no delays occurred during the entire 18 months SL Construction Services were on site. A dedicated on site management and installation team worked in an intergrated and shared office facility to include an intergrated project extranet to manage and deliver 'right first time solutions' with the project architects and designers. A specialist structural movement joint available through SL Construction Services able to accommodate curves and changes of direction was a major advantage in delivery of the project. In addition 14,000m² of structural roof waterproofing had a specialist heat activated tack coat applied to it to act as a mechanical bond with a new innovative recycled surfacing system. The package of structural roof waterproofing was installed ahead of programme and to the highest technical standards on a world class project.
